This dress has two interesting features. One is a construction feature: it has hook-and-eye closures on one of the straps (!)--an unusual touch which, depending on how you look at it, may make it easier or harder to get oneself into the dress. Then there are the silk chiffon panels, which we think were probably meant to hang, but could also be tied, like in this Resort 1990 dress (though the construction is slightly different). We couldn't place this dress exactly, but it feels roughly early-to-mid 1990s. A Fall/Winter 1992 dress features both velvet and chiffon layers, and a spring 1996 black mini dress features a square neckline and thick cross-back straps.
