Manifold Vintage's Spring/Summer 2026 Collection features two black, crepey, 1990s Geoffrey Beene jackets; we think they are best described together. The jacket described in listing is Jacket B, this is Jacket A; a comparison image can be found in this listing’s photos.

Jacket A and Jacket B, viewed diachronically (looking at change over time), reflect Beene's turn away from ornamentation and contrast during his final years at the helm of his fashion house. Jacket A, from the early 1990s, is made out of a visibly woven fabric. It features emerald trim, slate-gray stone buttons, and a hood. Jacket B, in contrast, is monochromatic, and--with the exception of the simple black buttons--of one uniform texture. Its undulating neckline gestures at a Peter Pan collar. For context, Beene had long embraced contrast, texture, and ornamentation. Take, for example, two pieces from Manifold Vintage's past collections: an ivory-and-black column dress with stark chromatic contrast, metallic trim, and quilted cuffs, or a palm-leaf-print jersey gown with striped woolen pieces. Was the more muted Fall 1998 collection, in which Jacket B debuted, a deliberate step away from his earlier signatures, or a concession to the tastes of the period?

Can fit an xs-m depending on desired fit. Feels like rayon crepe, but could be wool blend.
