Giorgio Armani Fall/Winter 1996 Ivory and Black Silk Bodice-Style Top

Armani's Fall/Winter 1996 included several iterations of this design: a bodice-style top with a square neckline and stark contrasting black and ivory stripes. Not only this top but a version with thinner stripes, a gown variant, a gown variant with thinner stripes, a similar gown with a different neckline, and even a pink-green-and-black version of the top, all went down the runway. These striped looks punctuated monochromatic looks, some of neutral tones but also some in stark red. It is as if to say: which is more eye catching, saturated monochrome or stark contrast?
